Süßkartoffeln / Sweet Potato


Warum sollte man Süßkartoffeln essen?

Laut CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest) ist die Süßkartoffel das nährstoffreichste Gemüse überhaupt. Sie erhielt 184 Punkte für ihren ausgewogenen Vitamin- und Nährstoffreichtum (zum Vergleich, auf Platz 2 ist die Kartoffel mit 83 Punkten).
In Süßkartoffeln (vor allem unter der Schale) befindet sich ein Stoff Namens Caiapo. Versuche mit diesem Stoff zeigten, dass sich der Nüchtern-Blutzuckerspiegel bei Diabetes Mellitus Typ 2 Erkrankten senkte. Außerdem verbesserte sich das Blut und der Cholesterinwert sank.
Süßkartoffeln sind daher eine ideale Kohlehydrat-Quelle, sie enthalten außerdem viele Antioxidatien und aufgrund ihres Ballaststoffreichtums sind sie gesund für die Verdauung. Außerdem haben sie viel Kalium, was Muskelkrämpfe lindert und die Leistungsfähigkeit beim Sport steigert.

Why should you eat sweet potatoes?

According to CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest), the sweet potato is the most nutritious vegetables in general. It received 184 points for their balanced vitamin and nutrients (for comparison, in 2nd place is the potato with 83 points).
In sweet potatoes (especially under the skin) is a substance name Caiapo. Experiments with this substance showed that  it dropped fasting blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus type 2 patients. In addition, it has positiv impact on the blood and the cholesterol sank.
Sweet potatoes are therefore an ideal carbohydrate source, they also contain many antioxidants and dietary fiber because of them they are healthy for digestion. They also have a lot of potassium, which relieves muscle spasms and enhances performance in sports.
